We are a county fire department, independent of the cities we provide services to.  The Nevada Fire District is located on the east side of Lavon Lake and covers 33 square miles.  The cities of Nevada and Lavon make up a portion of our district.  Our district is primarily comprised of unincorporated areas of Collin County.

The department is comprised of 1 Chief, 1 Deputy Chief, and 16 Firefighter/First Responders.  All of the department members are volunteer.  There are no sleeping quarters at our fire stations so primary response is usually from the member’s house, to the fire station, then to incident location.

EMS services are provided by AMR in unincorporated areas of Collin County and the City of Nevada.  Between the hours of 11a-11p, 7 days a week, the primary ambulance is dispatched out of Josephine.  Outside of those hours or if the ambulance is already busy, the AMR ambulance responds from Farmersville.  ETMC provides EMS services for citizens in the city limits of Lavon.  Primarily, this ambulance responds from Wylie Station 2.

The Nevada Vol. Fire Department responds to many emergency situations including:  public assist calls, medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, motor vehicle fires, grass fires, and structure fires.
